Introduction

Keeva ("we", "our", or "the app") is a local-first pet pantry tracker for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app and this website process, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

The short version: your pantry stays on your device. When you scan a package, its photos and barcode are sent to our server so we can recognise the product. The app has no analytics and no account. The website uses cookie-free, self-hosted analytics. We do not sell data to third parties.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Keeva stores the following data locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:

• Pet profiles (name, species, breed, weight, date of birth)
• Your pantry inventory and feeding logs
• App preferences and settings
• Custom feeding schedules (Premium)

We have no ability to access, read, or retrieve this data. If you delete the app, it is permanently removed.

Package Scanning

When you scan a package, the app sends the following to our server (api.meetkeeva.com):

• The barcode (EAN) of the product
• The photos you take of the package (front, ingredients, nutrition table)
• A random installation ID and an Apple App Attest check, used to keep the service free of abuse and to apply the daily scan limit

If the product is not yet in our product database, the photos are sent toAnthropic, whose AI model (Claude) reads the label and returns the product details. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf and, under its commercial terms, does not use it to train its models.

The recognised product details and the package photos are stored in our shared product database, so the next person who scans the same product gets an instant result. This database contains product information only. It is not linked to your pets, your pantry, or your identity. Please photograph only the package and avoid capturing people or other personal details.

The legal basis is the provision of the scanning feature you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

What the App Does Not Collect

• Personal information such as your name, email, or phone number (there is no account)
• Location data
• Device identifiers for advertising
• Your photo library (the app only uses the camera to photograph packages)
• Usage analytics

Website

Analytics (Umami)

This website uses Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we host ourselves (analytics.bugsntea.dev). It counts page views and clicks (for example on the waitlist button), along with the referring site, browser, operating system, device type, and country. Umami uses no cookies and does not store your IP address or any other data that identifies you. The data is not shared with any third party.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address together with the time of signup, your browser's user agent, the referring page, and your browser language. We use your email solely to tell you when Keeva launches. Your IP address is used briefly in memory to limit repeated signups and is not stored.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time by emailing keeva@bugsntea.dev, and we will delete your entry. Otherwise we delete it after sending the launch announcement.

In-App Purchases & RevenueCat

Keeva offers optional premium features through in-app subscriptions and a lifetime purchase. To manage these purchases, we useRevenueCatas our payment processor.

What RevenueCat Processes

When you make a purchase or restore a previous purchase, RevenueCat processes the following data on our behalf:

• An anonymous app user ID (not linked to your identity)
• Purchase and subscription status information provided by the App Store
• Transaction receipts for purchase validation

RevenueCat acts as a data processor under a data processing agreement. They do not use your data for their own purposes beyond providing us with subscription management services. For more information, see theRevenueCat Privacy Policy.

Apple App Store

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles all payment information directly. We never receive or store your payment details. Apple's handling of your data is governed byApple's Privacy Policy.

Camera Access

Keeva requests access to your camera solely to photograph pet food packaging. The photos are used for product recognition as described under "Package Scanning". You can revoke camera access at any time through your device's Settings.

Notifications

Keeva may request permission to send local notifications for feeding reminders and low-stock alerts. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are not sent through any external server. You can disable notifications at any time through your device's Settings.

Feedback Emails

If you contact us via email for support or feedback, we process your email address and message content solely to respond to your inquiry. Your email and its contents are deleted as soon as the inquiry has been processed. No feedback email data is stored long-term or shared with third parties.

Keeva uses the following third-party services:

We do not use any advertising SDKs or sell data to third parties.

Data Transfers

Anthropic, RevenueCat, and Cloudflare are based in the United States. When data is processed by these services, it may be transferred to and processed in the United States. These providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

Data Retention

• Local data on your device is kept for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
• Product details and package photos in the shared product database are kept for as long as the product is listed, as they contain no personal data.
• Waitlist entries are deleted after the launch announcement or when you ask us to.
• Subscription data processed by RevenueCat is kept according to its data retention policy and applicable legal requirements.

Your Rights

Under applicable data protection law (including the GDPR if you are in the European Economic Area), you have the following rights:

• Right of access — request information about data processed about you
• Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
• Right to restriction — request restricted processing of your data
• Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
• Right to lodge a complaint — file a complaint with a supervisory authority

Children's Privacy

Keeva does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app does not require an account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
